AgroBrasConsult is a Brazilian company, highly specialized in agribusiness consultancy and international business support, with offices in the cities of São Paulo and Campinas (São Paulo State). It has been created in 2008 by Marcia Cabral Dietrich and Jean-Yves Carfantan.

 About us

Resident in Brazil since 2000, Jean-Yves Carfantan was born in France. Graduated in Economics and in Philosophy, he holds a postgraduate degree in International Business. After being a Cooperating Professor at the University of Brazzaville (Congo) from 1975 to 1978, Jean-Yves Carfantan became a Professor of International Economics at the Institut Superieur de Gestion (ISG) in Paris (1979-1981). Then he led a continuing education program in Business (1982-1985) supported by the EC Commission. From 1985 to 2010, he has been a Professor in Agricultural Economics at the Ecole Superieure d’Agriculture d’Angers (France), a French agricultural engineering school. In this context, during twenty years, he has been responsible for initiating and managing partnerships that this institution has developed with five Brazilian universities. At the Ecole Superieure d’Agriculture d’Angers, from 1988 to 2003, he was in charge of a Master Program in International Trade of agricultural products and foodstuffs. Since 1992 and up to 2002, spending half of the year in Europe and half in Brazil, he has worked in that country as both a consultant and a Visiting Professor at the Partner Universities of the Ecole Supérieure d’Agriculture of Angers. During the same period, he has lectured regularly as a Guest Teacher in different Brazilian universities. As a consultant, Jean-Yves Carfantan worked steadily between 1992 and 2005 with cooperatives organizations in Paraná State (OCEPAR), Rio Grande do Sul (OCERGS) and Santa Catarina (OCESC) and with Banco do Brasil, the main financing institution of Brazilian agriculture.

Between 2002 and 2007, Jean-Yves Carfantan worked as a consultant to the grains sector’s research department, Céleres, a Brazilian consulting company located in the state of Minas Gerais. In this context, he led and conducted studies on the fertilizer industry and the soybean supply chain to attend foreign clients. Banco do Brasil, Syngenta-Europe, Pfizer USA and Monsanto were some of the clients he served as a Céleres Consultant. AgroBrasConsult’s associate since 2008, the consultant has collaborated in recent years with different national fertilizers suppliers. Jean-Yves Carfantan is the author of ten books about International Economics. On 2009, he published in France and in Japan “Le choc alimentaire mondial” (The global food shock), a book that addresses the new global challenges that have surfaced with the end of cheap food. He is a member of the Global Food Security Forum (GFSF) steering Committee. The Global Food Security Forum is an initiative of the OCP Group, a Moroccan multinational corporation, global leader in the phosphate fertilizer sector. It addresses the mounting challenge of feeding a growing world population, and assuring food security for the most vulnerable, in an environmentally, socially and economically sustainable fashion.

Graduated in journalism Marcia Cabral Dietrich focused her work on some issues related to Brazilian agribusiness sector, especially on agricultural inputs (fertilizers, agrichemicals, seeds, etc.). For many years she worked in Mato Grosso do Sul (one of the main Brazil Midwest states for agricultural production). Between 2000 and 2008, she held the position of editor in chief of the agribusiness specialized magazine, Lida AgroRevista, a very important information source for agricultural supply chains professionals. On the same period, she also worked as an adviser of the FAMASUL (main local agricultural organization) communication team. This fieldwork provided Mrs. Dietrich a wide contacts network among agribusiness private companies, farmer’s organizations and public entities in all Brazilian Midwest states.
